Cities of Spain - Itinerary 3

 

DAY 01    SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Arrive to the airport, pick up your car and drive to the city. Accommodation.


DAY 02    SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Buffet breakfast. Visit this monumental city, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1984: Plaza del Obradoiro with the impressive Cathedral and the Toomb of St. James, Raxoy Palace, its nice ruas, Plazas of Quintana, Azabacheria and Platerias, you will feel the ambiance of this pilgrimage site.
In the afternoon you can drive to La Coruña to visit the Hercules Tower and stroll along its Paseo Maritimo. Return to Santiago for accommodation.


DAY 03    SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA-LEON (350 kilometres, part a toll motorway and part a free motorway)
Buffet breakfast. Early morning drive to Leon. Arrival to this historical and nowadays modern city. Accommodation.


DAY 04    LEON
Buffet breakfast. Dedicate the day for a thorough visit: originally a military camp in the Roman times, it boosted to prosperity in the IX Century when becoming part of the Kingdom of Asturias, then in the Middle Age was the head of the Kingdom of Leon. Amongst its monuments may we mention the Temple of St. Isidoro with its Royal Pantheon, House of the Botines, the roman wall, Guzmanes Palace and more. Accommodation.


DAY 05    LEON-SALAMANCA (210 kilometres on a good road)
Buffet breakfast. Depart to Salamanca, another jewel of the World Heritage cities. Visit its Main Square, the Old and New Cathedrals, Church of St. Esteban, Palace of Fonseca, the University, etc. Accommodation.


DAY 06    SALAMANCA-AVILA-SEGOVIA (165 kilometres, part good road and part a toll motorway)
Buffet breakfast. Your drive today will take you to the World Heritage city of Avila, with its perfectly preserved medieval Wall, Church of St. Theresa and main square amongst other sites of interest. Continue to Segovia. Accommodation.

DAY 07    SEGOVIA-MADRID (90 kilometres, part on a toll motorway and part a free motorway)
Buffet breakfast. See this roman and medieval World Heritage city, with its roman aqueduct perfectly preserved, the lady of the Cathedrals, the fairy tale Royal Alcazar, Church of the Knights of the Temple, House of the peaks. Afternoon drive to Madrid. Accommodation.


DAY 08    MADRID-TOLEDO-MADRID (140 kilometres round trip on a free motorway)
Buffet breakfast. Your destination today is Toledo, declared World Heritage in 1986. Visit the Cathedral (Prime of Spain), St. Tome Chapel with painter El Greco´s masterpiece "Burial of Count of Orgaz", house of El Greco, the Transit Synagogue and temple of St. John of the kings. Return to Madrid for accommodation.


DAY 09    MADRID-CORDOBA (400 kilometres on a free motorway)
Buffet breakfast. Morning drive passing through the plains of La Mancha (Land of Don Quixote and windmills) and, crossing the Despenaperros Mountain Pass enter the Region of Andalusia, arriving in Cordoba, another World Heritage city. Accommodation.


DAY 10    CORDOBA-GRANADA (205 kilometres on a good but sometimes curvy road)
Buffet breakfast. In the early morning visit the Mosque-Cathedral (except Sunday mornings) and stroll around its old quarters to visit the remains of the Synaogue, little Maimonides Square, the flowered patios. Depart to Granada for accommodation.


DAY 11    GRANADA
Buffet breakfast. Today you should drive to visit the impressive Alhambra with its court of the lions, harem, sultans room, the baths, throne room.... and beautiful Generalife Gardens. In the afternoon you should walk to the Alcaiceria Quarter and visit the Cathedral and Royal Chapel with the toombs of the Catholic Sovereigns.
Accommodation.


DAY 12    GRANADA-COSTA DEL SOL (BEMALMADENA COSTA, 160 kilometres on a free motorway)
After breakfast depart Southbound to Costa del Sol. You may stop in Loja to visit this city with its well preserved mozarabic churches. Accommodation in Costa del Sol.


DAY 13    COSTA DEL SOL
Buffet breakfast and accommodation. You may want to drive today to the whitewashed town of Casares, a unique town located in a hollow place, where cars are not allowed and have to be parked in certain areas reserved for that purpose......... or perhaps drive to the cosmopolitan city of Marbella and Puerto Banus, where the big yatchs of the World millionaires dock. Return to Benalmadena for accommodation.


DAY 14    COSTA DEL SOL
Buffet breakfast. Today we suggest a drive to Malaga, the capital city of Costa del Sol, to see the Alcazaba, the Cathedral and the Museum-House of Picasso.
Return to Benalmadena for accommodation....... or perhaps you would like to relax and remember all the wonderful places you have seen during your trip, before returning to your Country of origin.


DAY 15    COSTA DEL SOL
Buffet breakfast. Check out at maximum 12:00 hours noon time. Drive to the airport and return your car before checking in for your return flight.

Prices include:
- Arrival and departure airport transfers (Madrid and Ibiza).
- Accommodation at mentioned hotels (or others of similar category), including buffet breakfast and taxes.
- Self drive car (Opel Vectra or similar) from day 02 to day 09, including unlimited kilometrage, CDW & TP insurances and taxes over these concepts.
  (there is a minimum franchise that clients have to cover in case of damage of the car).
 
Prices do NOT include:
- Meals at the hotels other than breakfast.
- Parking fees, PAI insurance, extras at hotels such as laundry, phone calls, room service, etc.
- Entrance fees to monuments
